“Take care of all your memories. For you cannot relive them.” – Bob Dylan
Is your tree still up?
Do you have any Christmas Tree traditions? Tree up right after Thanksgiving, or later? When do you take it down? Is there a reason why? Or something you just do?
What about the ornaments? Do some have special meaning?
On our tree, we hang red rings – each surrounding a photo of a special member of our family, both two-legged and four-legged.
I’ll bet you have some special ornaments on your tree each year. Ornaments with a story. Tell me about them.
As always the conversation starts here.
“In the ordinary choices of every day we begin to change the direction of our lives.” – Eknath Easwaran
Epilogue
Does your tree have a pickle hidden deep in its branches? Do you know the old German tradition?
We decorate for Advent but wait until Robin and/or Eric is home to cut our cedar tree at our family farm. Decorations are mostly hand-made from family and friends–some our kids made in kindergarten and family photos from church Christmas family nights.
Mary Lou –
I love your families tradition. Following the Advent season with your children, a tree from the family farm, loaded with ornaments full of memories are all part of what make this holiday so special.
Thanks for your comment

Ever squint at the Christmas tree lights? I do. Every year.
Wade –
Interesting. Squinting has the effect of looking through a pinhole, right? Maybe you want to block out everything but the pure light. I’ll try it. Thanks.
