“There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.” – Ernest Hemingway

I’m glad you are back. I hope your return means you like how the book started. In the first chapter we learned some history on a parcel of land in the NC mountains – we were introduced to Jane and Martin who needed to brake a long family tradition, then the young couple who bought the old Adams’ place – Brooke and Peter.

The chapter ended with Brooke in a tizzy over the arrival of guests for dinner.

Now, I’ll tell you what readers told me, what I plan to do about it, and then – what I was thinking when I sat down to write Chapter 2.

But first, a reminder on how this will work.

In each post, I’ll discuss my thought process in writing the new chapter , discuss your feedback, and provide a link. All you have to do is click on that link to start reading the book. And no worries if you get behind or want to start over, you’ll be able to find everything, even back to the start.

Also remember how I asked for your opinions along the way. They are important as we write together. Here’s what I got, both in the comment section and in eMails.

You said you wanted to know more about great-great grandfather Edward, and how you liked his planting trees just because trees belong.

To be honest, that’s all I had planned for Edward and his trees (a walk-on role would be his fate) but you made me see the importance of both history and trees – two things I care about. So now, thanks to you, you’ll read more about each before the book ends.

I thought about how Jane and Martin would be adjusting being away from their family home .. how Brooke and Peter are discovering their new lives – and what new choices they have to make. And I thought about their children .. and the next step for them.

In Chapter 2, we explore how Jane and Martin feel about leaving the only home they had ever shared. Seems it still pulls them back – in good ways. We also see how they are moving on. Peter makes a purchase every \”mountain man\” does. And Brooke .. well .. she discovers that even the most hated objects sometimes have a good use.

Let’s read Chapter 2 and find out how our families are doing.

And, don’t forget to tell me what you think. I\’m sincerely appreciating your feedback. Keep it coming!

As always, the conversation starts here.
